The launch of Threads App by Instagram has created a buzz in the social media world. However, Malayalis are well known for looking for a Malayali connection in anything and everything. Things became interesting when social media discovered the Malayalam alphabet ‘thra’ (ത്ര) in the Threads logo when rotated 90 degrees, which also rhymes. The logo is also similar to the Malayalam alphabet ‘kra’ (ക്ര), which adds to the suspense of the design’s loop.

Instagram released the Threads app as a competitor to the Twitter app. The idea behind the application is to improve the interconnectedness across various social networking platforms. Since its launch yesterday, the app has attracted 30 million users. Instagram claims that Threads is set to be a game-changer in the social media arena. Currently Twitter is preparing to take legal actions over Meta over creating a copycat app. Twitter claims that Meta has openly stolen its program, infringing on its intellectual property rights. The legal war between these digital giants is expected to be closely followed by the media and the general public, as it has the potential to have a significant impact on future social media trends.
