From abdominal cramps to blood stains, period pangs are many. Menstrual cups have become a popular alternative to tampons and pads. Menstrual cups alleviate some of the problems by preventing rashes and removing the need for frequent sanitary pad changes and disposal.
That is why women’s safety is a part of the state budget. The Minister stated that the government wants to promote the use of menstruation cups, which are both affordable and environmentally friendly, rather than sanitary napkins. The government has allocated 10 crore for this purpose and would organise awareness programmes and campaigns in schools, colleges, and workplaces.
Minister for Women and Child Development Veena George said the Women and Child Department department had got right amount of priority in the Budget. Funds had been set aside for welfare of women and children.
Menstrual cups are becoming more and more common. As a result of awareness in the state, one lakh menstrual cup were distributed in September under the initiative of MP Hibi Eden.
Additionally, the budget included Rs 63.50 crore to ensure that Anganwadi children receive nutritional food by providing milk and eggs twice a week.
